Lucky for us, some of the tastiest fruits have the most powerful antioxidants. The best part is, these fruits often mix well (especially on a hot summer day!). Cool off and fight free radicals with this delicious, cooling, summer drink recipe from butteredveg.com. You won't be disappointed!
What You'll Need
16 OZ. FROZEN BLUEBERRIES OR 2 CUPS OF BLUEBERRY JUICE
1 CUP WATER
3/4 CUP ORGANIC RAW SUGAR
CRUSHED ICE
1/2 CUP LEMON JUICE
6 CUPS OF GREEN TEA
PREP TIME: 15 SHORT MINUTES
SERVES: 6 THIRSTY BABES
PRO-TIP
It is important to use raw sugar (the brown type), because it contains vitamins and minerals that make it a more complete food.
Let's Get Mixing
STEP 1:
Combine blueberries, water, raw sugar, and 1 tablespoon of the fresh lemon juice in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
STEP 2:
Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
STEP 3:
Remove from heat, then crush blueberries with a fork to release their juices. Strain through a sieve or form of micro-strainer. Reserve the juice and discard the pulp (or save to add a little crunch to your drink). Allow mixture to cool.
STEP 4:
Add 6 cups boiling water to 6 tea bags or 6 teaspoons of loose tea leaves. Before adding tea leaves, allow the water to cool to 170-180 degrees Fahrenheit, then steep for 3 minutes.
STEP 5:
Combine blueberry-sugar juice, tea, and the remaining lemon juice in a large jar, bowl, or pitcher. Add ice or cool in the refrigerator.
STEP 6:
Enjoy!
