Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT IS OMBRE/POWDER?
Ombré and powder techniques use a machine to create a shaded graduation from light to dark color. Looks range from soft & natural, to bold & makeup look. Both techniques are extremely customizable to the clients' needs. Lasts 1-3 years.

DOES IT HURT?
We get mixed reviews on pain. Everyone has a different level of sensitivity so topical anesthetics are applied during the treatment to alleviate any sensation or discomfort. Some clients naturally feel one brow sorer than the other. You will hear a scratch noise throughout the session. Music is usually played during the procedure, however, feel free to bring your own earphones and music to distract you.

IS IT SAFE?
Absolutely. All supplies are disposable.

WILL I BE SWOLLEN?
You won’t be swollen, you just might have slightly red skin around your eyebrows, but this would last about a day.

WILL I NEED A TOUCH UP?
All results will vary per person depending on their skin, blood type, lifestyle, existing hair, bone structure, face shape, any medications taken, the number of times the area had been worked on, and aftercare. We cannot guarantee successful results on 100% of our clients because everyone’s skin takes the pigments differently to permanent makeup - using a pencil or powder may still be needed. In order to ensure the best outcome, we recommend a second session within 1-2 months after your initial appointment to achieve the desired result.

Expect a second touch up if (charged accordingly):
-you change services at the second session
-your brows required a color correction
-you have extremely oily skin
-you want super dark, makeup-look brows

HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TOUCH UPS?
In order to keep your eyebrow tattoo results looking fresh, we recommend a touch up every year.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
It will last as long as it’s maintained. How long brows last will vary depending on your skin type by how well your skin takes in pigment during the session and how dark you are willing to go depending on the scenario. After a touch up, brows are expected to last from 1 to 3 years depending on the shade of choice you prefer, skin retention, time in the sun, and daily skin routines (more exfoliating products, faster the fade).

WHY DO I NEED A TOUCH UP IF THIS IS SEMI-PERMANENT?
Because color is implanted in the facial area, there tends to be more fluid circulation than other parts of the body. Your face sees the most wear of any piece of you—exposure to the sun, food, facial products—the list goes on and on. All of these things cause permanent color to fade.

CAN I SCHEDULE MY PERFECTION SESSION SOONER THAN 4 WEEKS?
Perfection Sessions cannot be done earlier than 4 weeks after the initial session. This is to ensure the skin has enough time to heal and pigment enough time to settle into the skin. A Perfection Session prior to 4 weeks would risk scar damage as the tissue requires time to completely heal.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
The procedure takes roughly about 3-5 hours, sometimes more sometimes less. Please allow a solid 4-hour window for your appointment.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO HEAL?
The healing cycle takes about 1 month to complete. After the appointment, the area may be sore and you may have some redness, which will subside in the next couple days. During healing process, you may notice many changes in color. Initially, the color may look darker than expected. This is because the brows will heal approx. 30% lighter than they look now. The brows will then peel as they work their way through the healing process. Do not peel or pick your brows during this stage. Once the peeling is done, your new brows may look extremely light. This is because you have a fresh layer of skin! Don't panic, over the next week or so, as the healing process comes to an end, the color will come back and you will see your final result. For longevity of your brows, it is required to come back in 4-8 weeks for a touch-up.

DO I NEED TO TAKE A DAY OFF WORK?
No. There’s no downtime associated with the treatment. Redness and swelling will dissipate within an hour after. Your brows will appear darker initially, but not so dark that you will be prevented from your activities of daily living.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO HEAL?
Healing time varies from individual to individual. Usually, it takes about a week to 14 days for the epithelial crust to form and slough off. Your skin will be considered healed after that happens. Then, the pigment takes some time to settle into the skin. A good month should pass before I consider the process complete.

WHAT CAN’T I DO AFTER THE PROCEDURE?
You are advised to keep the skin clean and dry - that means no swimming, sweating or otherwise getting the area wet; no tanning or prolonged sun exposure; no picking, peeling, scratching, or rubbing the tattoo, this may result in a loss of color and scarring. You can still wash your hair and face and once they’re healed up, you treat them as your own.

HOW DO I EXTEND THE LIFE OF THE PROCEDURE?
Your eyebrows will last longer if you apply sunblock often and avoid abrasive facial treatments in the brow area. Do not apply anti-aging or acne products to the tattoo.

CAN YOU GUARANTEE YOUR WORK?
No. How the skin will react is different for everyone and many factors are to be taken into consideration. Skin type, age, scarring, diet, stress levels, facial products used, etc. all play a key role in your results, which is why it is important to know that more than one touch up may be required. I always make sure that your face is important to me and I will act in accordance with my experience and expertise to give you my absolute best. But there are no guarantees in this industry. Please think long and hard before you decide to go for it.

WHAT IF I DON’T LIKE IT?
Although an ombré shading tattoo is considered to be semi-permanent, the procedure does allow flexibility for color or shape change to some extent.
We will be working together to create a shape that fits your unique facial structure. I will work closely with you to ensure that you are satisfied with the proposed technique. I will allow you to have as much control over the procedure as possible, so there’s very little room for error.
I request that you carefully look at the shape before we start the service. Once the decision is made, the look you chose will be final. During your touch up, small adjustments can be made and we will adjust the color, fill in every empty space and touch up what needs to be darker to improve the evenness of color throughout the brows and to maintain the color for longer-lasting brows. This touch up does not cover changing the shape of your brows in any way, shape, or form.

CAN I GET MY BROWS DONE IF I AM PREGNANT OR NURSING?
For the safety of you and your baby, it is NOT recommended to get a permanent makeup tattoo if you’re expecting or breastfeeding.

AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE?
Unfortunately, not everybody is a good candidate for permanent cosmetics. If any of the following statements apply to you, you may want to consider an alternative.
- Severely oily skin and/or large pores, which will affect the final look
- Keloid-prone skin, may cause scarring
- Diabetes type 1 and 2 are prone to slow healing, which runs higher risk of infection
- Preexisting cosmetic tattoo, ink will not show properly over the shaded work
- Autoimmune diseases, medication may interact. Consult your Phsyician
- Pregnant or nursing
- Currently using or has used Accutane, which affects the epidermis and runs higher risk of infection (wait 6-12 months)
- Someone with Chronic Epilepsy or Parkinsons cannot receive this service, no exceptions
- No use of blood thinners within 72 hours of appointment, or heavy bleeders
- Currently taking medication for Thyroid issues, may cause pigment to not retain
Please note: Some of the statements above still allow someone to receive the service with the clear understanding that pigment may not retain properly. The process may require Perfection Sessions more frequently than others due to pigment fading more rapidly.
