Microblading & The Sun

Why is it bad?

Sun exposure is bad for your microbladed brows throughout their lifetime, but especially detrimental during the first 4 weeks of healing. The UV rays directly affect ink retention, so it is important to protect your brows. If you're not already wearing SPF everyday, you should be, but avoid your brow area for the first 2-3 weeks of healing.

So how do I protect my healing brows?

If you're not a hat girl, you're about to become one! If you cannot abstain from going out into the beautiful sunshine for the first couple weeks after your session, make sure you're always leaving the house with a hat! Ensure it's not too constricting, and wear it above your brows (you don't want them to rub!). Here's a CUTE sun hat from amazon.com that I took on a cruise through the Caribbean (see below in St. Croix, Virgin Islands)! Looks great, works great, and folds up nicely for easy storage!

What is microblading retention?

Microblading retention describes how much ink remains in the skin once the brows are completely healed. There are many factors that contribute to retention in addition to sun exposure, including lifestyle (excessive sweating can push ink molecules), skin type (oily skin can cause blurred lines), and after-care (proper cleansing and keeping the brows dry are necessary steps!).

"These babies were expensive."

To guarantee less frequent touch-ups, make sure you always wear SPF on your brow area once they're completely healed!
