Skin Type VS Face Wash

Volume I - The Skin & Makeup Issue

Why is the RIGHT face wash important?

If your cleanser is too stripping, it can leave your skin feeling dry, irritated, and cause increased sensitivity. Some oils in the face are good oils, and when you strip them all, it can actually cause your skin to become MORE oily (your skin works double-time to make up for the lost oils). If your cleanser is too rich, you risk clogging your pores further, and not getting the best clean your skin needs.

OILY SKIN

Indicators: large, visible pores and a oily sheen that develops quickly after you’ve cleansed

Face Wash: avoid washes that include oil or alcohol ingredients because this can amplify your oily skin type. Gel and foam cleansers are typically good for oily skin, but make sure to check the ingredients!

COMBO SKIN

Indicators: oily T-zone, drier cheeks

Face Wash: both combo skin and sensitive skin can benefit from a super gentle cleanser. Choose a wash that lifts away dirt and grime, without stripping the skin of needed moisture.

"NORMAL" SKIN

Indicators: even skin tone with no flaking, redness, or extra sheen

Face Wash: lucky you with normal skin! You get the pick of the litter. You'll want to pick a face wash that protects the skin barrier, locks in natural moisture and cleanses your pores.

DRY SKIN

Indicators: itchy, flaky, and tight

Face Wash: stay away from cleansers with fragrance, chemicals, and alcohols. Your face wash should be gentle and moisturizing. Cream cleansers can be good, but watch out for ingredients that block your skin's natural moisturizers.
