Choosing to train with Séduire Academy was probably one of the best decisions I have made. We were about a quarter of the way through 2019 when the unrest at my corporate job became just too much. I left the beauty industry a few years before to help my friend out with his new company (if I’m being real, the steady income was just too good to pass up). I climbed the ranks and was overall really passionate about my job. Later, I ended up at another company where passions were low, the work was boring, and it was an overall unhealthy working environment. That’s when I said, “heck with these corporate jobs, I’m ready to get back into beauty.”

When you’re starting out (in my case, again) as a freelance makeup artist, you’re not making much money. Because I had been 4 or so years out of the beauty industry, I would need to spend A LOT of money to just rebuild my makeup kit. Then, the first couple of months you’re not making any money because you’re rebuilding your portfolio with trade shoot after trade shoot. The idea just didn’t seem to tickle my fancy anymore.
In considering my other options, I fell in love with the idea of doing nails. I’ve been doing mine on and off for years, so why not? I spent hours researching schools in my area, looking at tuition rates, student reviews, and all that good stuff. Then one day I woke up and said: “I’m going to learn how to microblade.” That moment has changed the direction of my life forever. When I was in school for my Masters Makeup Artistry in 2015, I was considering microblading then too but decided to give my makeup artistry its best shot. I was realizing, this is now my time.

So I got to my google searching, and my instagram hashtag lurking for the best microblading training near me. I stumbled upon many great, and many not so great, training courses in my area. When I found Séduire, I knew there was nowhere else I wanted to go. I started planning what it would look like for me to head out on my own to LA to learn this new, exciting skill. I asked my partner if he thought the was something we could swing, and he was so supportive. Now the last thing was to get approval from my job to pack up and leave for most of an upcoming week.
To my surprise, my job didn’t want me to pass up this opportunity. Immediately after meeting with my manager, I went online to book my class. I was so heartbroken to see that the upcoming class in LA was now SOLD OUT. You’re probably thinking, “why not just sign up for the next one?” At this time, there were only 2 other classes scheduled. The first
was in Hawaii (and more expensive), and the second was scheduled months away for right after I would get back from a 2-week tour of Europe with my mom. My passion and drive were so strong at that time that I was afraid if I waited too long, it might fade away and I wouldn't do it.

After explaining all of this to my partner, he agreed that if I was going to do it, I needed to jump right in. He bought my flights to Hawaii for my birthday, my mom rented my AirBnB, and I was heading off to Hawaii by myself to start the next chapter of my professional life.
